“Modern Family” leads inaugural Critics’ Choice Television noms

By Sean O’Connell Hollywoodnews.com: ABC’s smash ensemble comedy “Modern Family” leads the inaugural nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, an offshoot of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and a companion broadcast to the group’s annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. The program was nominated for six Critics’ Choice Television trophies, including best comedy series best supporting comedy actor (Ty Burrell, Ed O’Neill and Eric Stonestreet) and best supporting actress in a comedy (Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara). The Television Awards have 10 nominees in the Best Comedy and Best Drama categories. The inaugural nominees for comedy are “Modern Family,” “The Middle,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Glee,” “Louie,” “Archer,” “Community,” “Parks and Recreation,” “The Office” and “30 Rock.” Meanwhile, “Boardwalk Empire,” “Dexter,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Fringe,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife,” “Justified,” “The Killing,” “Mad Men” and “The Walking Dead” will compete for Best Drama. The CCTAs were created earlier this year as a competitor to the annual Emmy Awards telecast. The awards program will be held on June 20 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
